Short & EZ hike on the Monticello Trail (5-6 miles)

Join me for a short hike on the Monticello Trail and in adjacent Kemper Park in Charlottesville. If you want to get some hiking in but not give up your entire Saturday, this one's for you. We'll cover the entire out and back Saunders-Monticello Trail, plus a few miles in Kemper Park. At the top we will see if we can get in to the Monticello visitors center where there are restrooms and limited refreshments. To get in we will need to go through a security checkpoint so depending on the crowd, this part is optional. Optional stop after the hike at a nearby winery.

HIKE DETAILS Difficulty: easy Hike Distance: 4.5 miles Elevation Change: +- 300' Hike Pace: moderate Terrain: dirt trail, crushed gravel, wooden boardwalk Trail Info: Monticello Trail Dogs Allowed: yes What to bring: Wear well broken in hiking shoes or boots and snacks/lunch, insect repellant, sunscreen, ID, and basic first aid supplies.
