About this event

The Department of Kinetic Imaging is excited to host interdisciplinary, new media artist, Alfredo Salazar-Caro, for a visiting artist lecture on Thursday, November 5th at 3:30 pm.

Alfredo Salazar-Caro is a creator and world builder living and working between Mexico City, New York City, and online. His practice brings together portraiture, installation, documentary, video, XR, social sculpture, and biocompatible architecture, connecting the creation of virtual worlds with the physical spaces we inhabit. His current work centers on 3D-printed earth architecture and sculptural experimentation, bringing computational design and robotic fabrication into dialogue with ancestral knowledge and vernacular building traditions.

Through experiments with earth and biocompatible materials, he investigates how architecture can support ecological regeneration, cultural continuity, and new ways of living with the natural world. This research explores post-digital architecture as a meeting point between emerging technologies, material traditions, and the needs of living Ecosystems. Salazar-Caro is a 2026–27 fellow in the Future Art Ecosystems R&D Fellowship at Serpentine in London, UK. He is also co-creator and creative director of DiMoDA, the Digital Museum of Digital Art, a virtual reality institution and exhibition platform dedicated to the development and presentation of XR art since 2015.

His work has been exhibited internationally, with notable presentations including Como Semillas en el Viento at Pérez Art Museum Miami, Digital Encounters at Museo Anahuacalli, CONTINUUM at Museo Nacional de Arte in Guatemala, Dreamlands at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and Die ungerahmte Welt at HeK in Switzerland, alongside presentations at the Tribeca Film Festival and SIGGRAPH Asia. His work has been featured in publications including: The New York Times, Leonardo, Cultured Magazine, and Vice.
